5 Things You Should be Doing on Instagram Right Now

By Samantha Litfin | Marketing Manager

The second most popular social media platform is Instagram, a visual based digital tool that can showcase your brand in its best light to your followers … if done right! Here are our top 5 tips on what you need to be doing right now to make sure your Instagram account is performing perfectly!

  1. Post attractive and colourful photos and videos

Instagram is all about providing value to your followers, especially if engagement is the metric you are looking to ace. You should look to post photos and videos that will evoke an emotion, happiness, nostalgia, joy, motivation, fascination, need, etc. Figure out what you want your followers to feel, still or moving, and then deliver high-quality visuals with lots of colour to get the most action on your account.

  1. Go easy on filters

There is a myriad of filters that you can apply to your imagery automatically to enhance and modify the look and style of your page, however, that trend is waning. People are looking for videos and photos that are vibrant and colourful, but natural. The filters can be alluring, but try to limit your use and stick with bright and vibrant reality for the win!

  1. Don’t go overboard on your Hashtags

While hashtags are a great way to increase your reach on Instagram, encourage higher engagement and attract new followers … contantly #using #them as part of your #content can #reallyannoy your #followers and make it #hardtoread and #hardtofollow the #conversation. Keep them relevant, keep them out of your post spiel, and you will have happy followers!

  1. Engage and Interact

If you have regular followers who like and comment on your posts, do not ignore them! Make your loyal followers feel valued, reply to their comments, check out their pages and if relevant, like their posts too. If someone comes up to you and tells you to your face that they love your venue and enjoyed the band last night … would you ignore them? No … the same rules apply online!

  1. Post often

If you are going to give Instagram a go, post interesting and post often to keep your followers engaged. A basic rule of thumb is to post either every day, or every other day to keep your feed fresh and your followers interested. Again, posting anything is not the key, interesting, unique, bright colours … post what you would love to see, not just for the sake of freshening up your feed.

So there you have it, our top 5 tips to enhance your Instagram game, now go out there and gram like a pro!
