Waiting in Lines
Written by Geoff Wohlsen | Director | geoff@dws.net.au

waiting-in-line 260x200px.jpgWaiting is frustrating, demoralising, aggravating, annoying, sometimes undignified and costly.

Recently I stayed in a new residential tower on the Gold Coast. The web site and brochures (and the price) suggested a 5 star experience.

The Restaurant and Catering Association is calling for the hospitality sector to be exempt from some Fair Work provisions, including the mandatory payment of penalty rates on weekends and public holidays, saying its members are suffering with some being forced to close.

The comments come as the hospitality and tourism industries have been pressuring the Government for wage relief, sparked by celebrity chef George Calombaris who spoke to The Power Index this week about how profit margins are being squeezed by high pay rates.

Mixing it up in 2012Over the past 10 to 20 years the cocktail scene has seen some significant changes. Mixologists are not only serving beverages but creating new and unique cocktails and ways of producing these beverages.
